Prior to launching Breath Keeper, I worked for 15 years as a pediatric OT, working with children experiencing developmental delay, sensory sensitivities, and motor delays.
Over time, my expertise honed into behavioral concerns, meaning I was working with children on the verge of getting kicked out of preschool (yes, 3 year olds get kicked out of school) – the kids who were biting their peers, the kids running out of the school, and the kids who seemed to be “out of control.”
The real root of these concerns stemmed from overloaded nervous systems, putting these children in constant fight-flight-flee responses.
These children didn’t have any words to explain what they were experiencing. They couldn’t identify their emotion, and some couldn’t even discern what emotion they were feeling – they were simply feeling internal chaos.
It’s wild how one jammed up nervous system can cause a tsunami effect, creating a flood of emotional imbalance amongst classroom peers, teachers, siblings, and parents.
I made it my intention to slow the storm. First, I would help these children start to feel ease within their own skin. Second, I’d teach them how to identify and express their feelings. Third, I’d teach their parents and teachers how to use the same language with them.
Yes, the adults ALSO needed to learn how to identify their emotions, regulate them, and know how to communicate them.
I’m seeing this out in the world. I’m seeing people struggle to understand what they’re feeling, how to name it, and know what strategies to use. I see how people are over-reactive and overloaded, causing deep disconnection with themselves.
I want you to be able to be able to know and understand your emotional material.
I want you to feel safe in your body as you navigate conflict with clarity and confidence.
I want you to know how to ground into your intuition so you can feel anchored in your choices.
I want you to know yourself.
Breathwork opens the door to get you there.
